If you’re looking for somewhere really different – and truly inexpensive – in Bonn, Germany, then take a look a Basecamp. It’s not a hotel, or a hostel or even a campsite. Basecamp consists of a selection of quirky accommodations located in a vast warehouse.
You can choose to stay in:
- A variety of original and unusual caravans
- A choice of two trains – one in the warehouse, one outdoors
- A family caravan / cabin / tent
- A Volkswagen microbus
See the video further down the page. At time of writing, prices start at only €25 per night. Breakfast is provided, there is free wifi and a chill-out area with games. Note that there are communal hostel-style bathrooms. A shared kitchen is also available (although some of the caravans have their own cooking facilities) and snack are sold at reception.
This is a great place to stay if you’re travelling on a budget and are looking for something that is decidedly different. The area has a very ‘campground’ feel to it and is a great place to meet like-minded travellers. See more at the website.
