If you’re on a trip and are staying close to the water, you’ll probably quickly become envious when you watch all the boats going by. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to have a boat of your own? Yes, but for many of us, that’s a just a dream as it’s a long way beyond our budget.

Renting a boat? Yes, that’s a possibility too but have you seen how expensive that can be? Or maybe you fancy renting a really luxurious yacht for a couple of hours to see how the other half lives but you’d need to have a captain in that case unless you are an experienced sailor.

So renting a boat can be a tricky proposition. And that’s why the Boatsetter service is gaining such ground. It works in a very similar way to Airbnb in that private boat owners rent their craft to people such as you and me, and boats are available to suit all budgets and all abilities.

For example, in my area, Fort Lauderdale, you and seven friends could rent a dayboat for an afternoon for $149 – that’s only $18 per person. In this instance, there’s no captain and you would be operating the boat yourselves.

At the other end of the scale, you could rent a luxury cruiser, complete with captain, for $2500 for the afternoon – and this works out to only $208 per person to enjoy every amenity you could wish for – sheer luxury. Spend the afternoon – or longer – living like a millionaire.
