It used to be one of Fort Lauderdale’s best-kept secrets. Inaugurated in 1986, the Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival began its life for aficionados of independent and foreign films. But it was a secret that we couldn’t keep for long – soon people were flocking to Fort Lauderdale every autumn to enjoy this extravaganza.

It’s now in its 32nd year and more popular than ever.

And if you love film, then it’s an event not to be missed. Enjoy watching a fantastically curated selection. Enjoy the wonderful world of Fort Lauderdale. What more could you want?

When you’re not in one of the festival’s two art-house cinemas, have fun exploring the area. Take a cruise for a few hours on the water-taxi. Enjoy the restaurants, coffee houses and sidewalk cafés of Las Olas Boulevard. Relax on the famous Fort Lauderdale Beach.

Visit historic houses, the incredible Museum of Discovery and Science or the outstanding Museum of Art. There is so much to do in Fort Lauderdale that ideally, you should stay for at least a month 🙂

The film festival, know locally and by aficionados as FLIFF, takes place in November – one of the most pleasant, sunniest months in South Florida. This year, it’s the 2nd until the 18th – so many independent films to see and enjoy.

If you’re a connoisseur or film enthusiast, you’re going to be here. But where can you stay?

The problems are a) that November is the height of the tourist season because the weather is so gorgeous. Many places are booked up a whole year in advance. b) People who appreciate independent movies tend to be independent people – the strictures of faceless hotels are not for them and c) aficionados need to be in a location that is easily accessed from the airport AND close to the art house cinema, Savor.

No problem.

See below. We have two splendid apartments which particularly appeal to creative people because of their Mid Century Modern decor (and building) and their location right on the waterway – midway between Fort Lauderdale Beach and the famous Las Olas Boulevard.

Check them out.

Oh and see FLIFF.com for full info.
