Here’s another seriously spooky hotel, this time the Grand Hotel Campo dei Fiori in the Italian Alps. The hotel was abandoned when tourism declined in the area.

Since its abandonment, in the late 1960s, the hotel fell into a ruinous state. Furniture and decor items were stolen or destroyed and interior architectural detail rotted.

In the 1980s the building was sold which started speculation that the hotel was about to be restored and reopened. However, the reality was that the ruined hotel’s value was in its elevated position – ideal for radio transmitters. You can see antennas in the photograph above. So the abandoned hotel became home for a while – for a radio station.

Today the building has been used as a film location.

A reboot of Suspiria, a movie from 1977, was filmed here. You can see a trailer in the video below.

THE HOTEL IN ITS HEYDAY.

The hotel is on private land and is therefore not available for public tours.

Every August, a festival is held in the front of the hotel which is open to the public.
