Although the 1993 movie Groundhog Day was set in Punxsutawney (which I can’t even begin to pronounce) it was actually filmed in Woodstock, Illinois.

And if you visit the place there are several places you can see that were featured in the film (many even have plaques) and you can even stay at the same bed & breakfast that ‘Phil’ (Bill Murray) stayed in during his almost-never-ending visit to the area.

It was a private house during the filming but in recent years fact has followed fiction and the ‘Cherry Street Inn’ is now the Royal Victorian Manor. You can visit their website here.

Courtesy of this site, here’s a map of an excellent walking tour of Woodstock and the movie locations.
