Some people like foodie tours or trips that include museums or journeys that include rail travel – and so do I, and a lot more besides. But I still haven’t found a rummage-about-in-bookstore tour.

If ever I do, then I’m sure that it will include the Monkey’s Paw in Toronto.

Named after one of the spookiest stories ever written, this bookshop specialises in the unusual. See their ‘Remote Window Display‘  to give you an idea of the type of book you’ll find there. I know that I could spend hours there.

But the Monkey’s Paw has another excellent feature which makes me definitely add the place to my wishlist.

It’s the Biblio-Mat.

As you can tell from the photograph, the Biblio-Mat is the world’s first second-hand book dispensing machine.

You can see it in action in the video below. I suspect that it’s the only second-hand book dispensing machine in the world but I’d love to see one at every train station and airport.

Yes, paradise is a $2 second-hand book and if you think the same, then put the Monkey’s Paw on your wishlist too.
