What’s the difference between a canyon and a gorge? There isn’t one apparently. The two words mean the same thing. However, the word ‘canyon’ is more likely to be used in America than in the rest of the world.

So imagine a canyon – or gorge – that is only just over 30 feet wide in some places. And yet its walls can soar over 1300 feet towards the sky.

Although the gorge is in a relatively remote part of the Atlas Mountains, it’s not too far from Marrakesh so is accessible – and you’ll find that it’s recently become popular with tourists so there are hiking trails and dirt roads so you won’t get lost.

And yes, there are locals selling souvenirs but see the photograph below – they are more likely to be local craft items rather than gross hotdogs.
