Wanderbrief is a comparatively new service – just over one year old at time of writing – that allows professional photographers, designers, writers and other creatives exchange their skills in exchange for travelling the world.

The service, headquartered in Amsterdam, is an online meeting ground for putting creatives in touch with companies that might need their services – in exchange for free accommodation.

What sort of companies? Well, a quick look at the Wanderbrief website will tell you that their creative members are working on exciting temporary projects with such companies as Porsche, Vodaphone and Adobe.

This is a fabulous situation for both the freelancer and the employer. The employer of course has the advantage of adding ‘fresh blood’ to their team, discovering talents that the homegrown creatives can’t offer and with no cash changing hands.

The creatives who use the service get to travel the world, meet stimulating like-minded people, expand their portfolios and without having to find accommodation costs. And there’s nothing quite like travel to get the creative juices flowing.
