One of the nicest aspects of living or vacationing in the Las Olas area of Fort Lauderdale is indulging in a leisurely breakfast right on the boulevard.

You can see our recommendations featured on the map below. Let’s start at the eastern and of the boulevard and move towards the west, looking at the breakfast dining options.

NANOU FRENCH BAKERY AND CAFÉ

Nanou is at the far end of Las Olas, just a few steps from the beach and features fabulous French bread, croissants, wonderful coffee and more. What’s more, they deliver – if you’re staying in self catering accommodation ordering your croissants and coffee to be delivered to your door is amazing.

THE FLORIDIAN

The Floridian diner has been here for as long as I can remember, In fact, as long as almost everyone can remember – it first opened its doors in the 1930s. And they have hardly been closed since – the Floridian is open 24 / 7 (during hurricanes excepted!) Be sure to take cash as they do not accept credit cards.

THE ETEN FOOD COMPANY

Eten is run by a well-known Belgian chef and his English partner. Although there is some seating inside, it’s a great idea to buy your breakfast then stroll to the nearly Colee Hammock Park and dine watching the boats go by. Don’t miss the Belgian chocolates – yes, even at breakfast time.

GRAN FORNO

Here we have an award-winning,  lively and wonderful Italian bakery and café. The coffee is fabulous and I highly recommend the croissants. Be sure to buy some of their gorgeous bread, pastries or quiche to take home too.

LA BONNE CREPE

As we travel further west on Las Olas Boulevard, we venture again into French cuisine, this time for exquisite crepes, just like the famous ones made in Brittany. You’ll also love their French toast, Eggs Benedict and plenty of other treats. Sitting outside on their shaded patio is an additional pleasure.

GRAN FORNO PRONTO

This café is the sister of Gran Forno Bakery. Hard to choose but I think my favourite breakfast here is their almond croissants. There’s an outdoor seating area and be sure to come back later for a slice of their wonderful pizza cooked fresh for you in the wood-burning oven.

INDIGO RESTAURANT

Indigo is located in the historic Riverside Hotel (which also dates from the 1930s) and is a marvellous breakfast venue, especially if you like people-watching. Sit outside in the shady collonaded area and watch Las Olas go by. Indigo is perfect if you’re an early riser too, they open at 6.30 am.
