La Boca is a lively – and very colourful – neighbourhood in Buenos Aires, Argentina. You can see from the photographs just how colourful and quirky this area is and it is becoming increasingly popular with visitors. It reminds me a little of Havana, with its interesting architecture and — those wonderful retro cars.
It teems with artists, musicians and very beautiful couples performing the tango – surely the sexiest of all dances! It was a local artist, Benito Quinquela Martín, who was first responsible for the gaudy colours you’ll see in this neighbourhood and it certainly led to its revival.
It’s a quirky place to visit and certainly full of life. It’s atmosphere is very European as its first settlers were Italian immigrants from the city of Genoa – they obviously brought their Italian exuberance to Argentina!
