A recent study showed that the majority of travellers visit at least one attraction during their vacation. That’s no surprise. But what is surprising is what type of attraction is most favoured by American tourists. Another interesting feature of the study is that the majority of American travellers research these venues in advance and base they travel plans around the attractions they wish to visit.

Yes, cultural tourism is on the rise – the top attractions are art & history museums. The 65% you see above represents 41.5 million USA households and domestic travel is on the rise. 85% now intend to travel within the United States. The largest spending group is that of the ‘millennial families’.
Although these generation definitions aren’t clearly defined, the majority agree that millennials were born between 1980 and 1996, loosely speaking. Many of these people are parents, parents who want to enrich the lives of their children by giving them cultural and educational experiences when they travel.
