Are you in love with signage the way I am? I know that some people might think that having a passion for signs might indicate a person who is a bit, well, odd – but the Neon Museum in Vegas is my idea of paradise. Well, one of my ideas of paradise…

Las Vegas surely counts as one of America’s most neon-lit cities so it’s fitting that the museum is located here and the artifacts on display are local – they are reminders of the history of Las Vegas itself.

It’s an outdoor facility and you can choose whether you enjoy a guided tour with full information or a free-form visit. Signs from hotels, motels, casinos, bars, gas stations, wedding chapels … they’re all here.

And they are from an era that conjures up personalities from the golden days of the city – Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Junior, Nat King Cole, Zsa Zsa Gabor – the neon doesn’t just demonstrate the history of Las Vegas; its history and its personalities mingle.

In addition to preserving and displaying the neon signs, the museum also has a restoration program. Some of the signs have already been restored and it’s an ongoing project.
