How many hotels are there in London? I’m sure that Google would be able to tell me but the information would soon be out of date. There are faceless chain hotels, independent quirky hotels and then … there’s 40 Winks. It defies description – almost – and certainly can’t be categorised.

You can see from the photographs that this is – without a doubt – a somewhat eccentric place to stay. Located in a building that is more than three hundred years old, 40 Winks was created by designer David Carter who personally oversees every aspect of this fairytale residence.

The hotel has only two guest rooms – one double and one single. The maximum occupancy is just three people. Book the two rooms and you’ll have complete privacy. (If there are four people in your party, you’re out of luck).

However, you don’t have to be a hotel guest to enjoy this astonishing place. Guided tours (conducted by Mr Carter) are available at a very reasonable fee. Or book one of their stunningly decadent and divine events as they are also very reasonably priced (oh, and tend to include canapes and top-quality champagne).

But for a completely magical stay, book a room at this amazing hotel to enjoy the full ambiance and experience. And book now. As you can imagine, there’s a waiting list!
