Yes, there are some wonderfully healthy ways to start the day. A smoothie. A nutritious shake. Or how about  a healthy homemade museli or additive-free granola? (With almond or oat milk, of course).

And then on the other hand, there are tasty ways to have breakfast.

Being on a trip away from home is a grand way to indulge in one of those delicious breakfasts that, if you had them every day, would harden your arteries or rot your teeth. But hey, you’re on holiday, right?

So then, beignets, preferably at the Café du Monde in New Orleans. They’ll do the trick nicely.

Beignets, in case you’ve never come across them, taste rather likre doughnouts as they’re made in a very similar way. Except they’re about a million times tastier. And especially if you’re in New Orleans.

Of course, you can make them at home too. But don’t you find that somehow things never taste quite as good at home? Like when you bring home a bottle of that red wine that was so perfect when you were in that magical bistro in San Tropez that somehow just takes like plonk when you’re back at home?

I’m convinced that you have to enjoy beignets in New Orleans but the video below will show you how to make them. It’s a little over the top, commercial-wise, but oh boy those beignets look so good.
